Site of South Cerney Upper Lock & Wharf

Cerney Upper Lock, which is now infilled, is the first in a flight of three locks when heading towards Inglesham.

Adjacent to the lock is a former lock keeper's cottage (Lock House) which is now a private residence.

The lock is also adjacent to a long-since demolished road bridge.

SInce many of the photos were taken, the property has been surrounded with high hedging and fencing. This is to provide the owners with some privacy from the adjacent road and footpath (former towpath).
